Un nou proiect / Work in progress

Imi place foarte mult Kaffe Fassett, cu lumea lui colorata. Cand am fost la Praga mi-am cumparat kit-ul acestui quilt proiectat de el. Designul materialelor este de asemenea realizat de Kaffe Fassett.

I like Kaffe Fassett and his coloured world very much. When I was in Prague I bought the kit for this quilt, designed by him. The fabrics are also designed by Kaffe Fassett.

In centrul patratelor vor fi cusute niste flori yo-yo. Nu am mai lucrat pana acum acest model, dar stiu tehnica, am invatat-o de la Elena :))
In the center of the squares I will sew some yo-yo flowers. I haven't made this model till now, but I know the technique, from Elena :))

Expozitia "Portes Ouvertes" la Cormainville - Franta

In perioada 30 iunie-1 iulie a avut loc la Cormainville- Franta, exozitia" Portes Ouvertes" a Asociatiei Beauce Arts- Textiles, in atelierul Smarandei. Au participat membre ale asociatiei "Beauce Arts- Textiles", dar si alte expozante din Franta si Romania. Au fost expuse in principal ATC-uri si carti postale.

Puteti viziona aspecte de la expozitie, pe blogul "Quilt en Beauce", intretinut de Smaranda Bourgery.

On this blog: "Quilt en Beauce" , you can see pictures from a quilt exhibition, in France, Cormainville, at the Smaranda's studio. The exibitors were the members of the "Beauce ArtsTextiles" association, but there were also other exibitors from France and Romania.

Iata ce am gasit la un magazin second hand: un quilt vechi, adevarat, lucrat in intregime de mana (pisuit si quiltuit). Nu stiu din ce tara vine, probabil Olanda. Este intr-o forma destul de buna si a costat doar 23 RON, asta insemnand undeva in jur de 7 euro. Un chilipir, nu-i asa?

Nu am de gand sa-l folosesc ci sa-l pastrez ca o prima piesa din viitoarea mea colectie de quilturi vechi. Poate voi avea ocazia sa mai achizitionez si altele...

Look what I have found at a second-hand store, here in my town: an old quilt, a real one, made by hand (pieced and quilted). I don't know its country of origin, it may be Holland. It's in a pretty good shape and it only cost 23 RON (about 7 Euro). It's a real bargain, isn't it?

I don't inted to use it but to keep it as a first piece of my future collection of vintage quilts :)

Sapte lucruri despre mine / I have been tagged !!

Am fost nominalizata de catre Sarah sa scriu aici sapte lucruri la intamplare despre mine, iar apoi sa nominalizez alte sapte posesoare de blog pentru a face acelasi lucru.

Asadar sapte lucruri despre mine:

1. sunt mai degraba o fire contemplativa decat activa
2. imi place ploaia, ma fascineaza si ma calmeaza

7.Imi place sa citesc Haruki Murakami, am citit tot ce-a aparut in romana de el

Gentuta crazy / Crazy Handbag

Am terminat aceasta geanta facuta in tehnica crazy patchwork. Mi-a placut mult s-o lucrez si cred ca voi face de acum inainte multe alte genti, cred ca e pe cale sa ma molipsesc de inca un microb :))
I finished this bag and I enjoyed to make it very much.I belive I will make a lot of bags in the future, I think I'm going to get another virus :)))
















































Rose, Heidi, Rosalinda si Maman Tendresse. Acestea sunt numele propuse de Smaranda, Teodora, Marisa si Nathalie pentru papusa mea (vezi postul anterior)
Multumesc fetelor!!!! Cred ca cel mai bine i se potriveste Rose, mai ales ca are rochita brodata cu trandafiri. Dar mi-a placut si Maman tendresse...suna atat de...tandru :) Voi face in orice caz si alte papusi, si musai si o Rosalinda si o Heidi.

Rose, Heidi, Rosalinda and Maman Tendresse. These are the suggestions of Smaranda, Teodora, Marisa and Nathalie for the name of my doll (see the previous post).
Thank you girls!!! I think the most suitable is Rose, especially that her dress is embroidered with little roses. But I also like Maman Tendresse...it sounds so...tender :)) However, I will make other dolls and certainly two of them called Rosalinda and Heidi. ;)

Prima mea papusa/ My first doll

In cautarile mele pe net, am descoperit papusile din textile. Unul din primele site-uri gasite a fost site-ul lui Patti Medaris Culea. Mi-a placut atat de mult, incat am decis ca trebuie sa fac si eu asemenea papusi. Am cumparat de pe http://www.amaz0n.com/ doua dintre cartile despre papusi ale artistei mai sus mentionate, si anume:Creative Cloth Doll Making si Creative Cloth Doll Faces. Am inceput cu tiparul cel mai simplu si iata cateva poze cu etapele realizarii primei mele papusi:
Surfing the net I found cloth dolls. One of the first sites I have found was Patti Medaris Culea's. I liked her dolls so much that I decided to make my own cloth dolls. I bought from www.amazon.com two books written by Patti Medaris Culea, about making cloth dolls: Creative Cloth Doll Making and Creative Cloth Doll Faces. I started with the purest pattern and here are some pictures of how I made my first doll.

Am folosit un material din bumbac 100% vopsit de catre mine cu Procion MX. Am ales o culoare roz pal care sa sugereze culoarea pielii.
I used hand-dyed cotton fabric (with Procion MX). I chose a pink colour, to suggest the colour of the skin.

Aici am trasat tiparul pe materialul indoit in doua. Apoi am cusut pe urma trasata, iar dupa aceea am decupat la aproximativ 2mm de cusatura.
I traced the pattern on the folded fabric. Then I sewed on the line and then I cut out at a distance of about 2mm.

In continuare am intors pe fata fiecare bucata, printr-un orificiu special lasat pentru aceasta, dupa care am umplut cu vatelina.

I turned out every piece and I stuffed them.

Aici este papusa inainte de a o colora si de a-i face haine.

Pentru a-i contura trasaturile fetei am folosit pasteluri cerate si vopseluri acrilice.

Iata si poze cu papusa mea la final!! Fusta i-am facut-o dintr-un rest de costum national, manecile si bluza din dantele, iar parul i l-am impletit din fir de tricotat galben.
Here is my doll! The skirt is made of an old national costume, the shirt and the sleeves are made of lace. For the hair I used yellow yarns.









































































Aici o puteti vedea langa doua vaze din tabla pe care le-am decorat cu trandafiri, prin metoda servetelelor.

Work in progress

Vreau sa va arat ce am mai facut in ultima vreme.
Am decorat niste cutiute de lemn cu tehnica servetelelor, tehnica pe care am explicat-o mai demult in acest post.
I want to show you what I have done lately.
I have decorated some wooden little boxes with the napkin technique, which I have explained in this post.



















Am inceput sa lucrez o geanta din textile, in tehnica crazy patchwork. Aproape am terminat cele doua fete.
I started to make a bag using the crazy patchwork technique. I have almost finished the two sides.
























Cam asa va arata cand va fi gata, doar ca ii voi mai adauga unele decoratii si o voi quiltui.
This is the look I intend to obtein but I need to embellish and quilt it a little.






















In centru am pus un mic goblen cu trandafir, cusut de mama mea.
You can notice in the middle a little gobelin with rose, sewn by my mother.

Expozitia de patchwork de la Szekszard (Ungaria)

In perioada 25-28 mai am fost cu prietena mea Diana la expozitia de patchwork de la Szekszard (Ungaria). Am descoperit un orasel frumos, cu multe parcuri, cu stradute linistite innecate in flori si verdeata, cu oameni cumsecade si primitori.

From 25th to 28th of May, I was in Szekszard (Hungary) at a patchwork exhibition, with my friend Diana. We found a beautiful little town with a lot of gardens, with quiet streets drowned in flowers, with nice people.

Am vizitat de asemenea si castelul Szent Gaal si orasul Pecs, aflat la doar 60 de km de Szekszard. In Pecs am nimerit la un concert rock care se tinea intr-o piateta in centrul orasului.

We have also visited The Szent Gaal Castle and Pecs, another town at 60 km away from Szekszard.

Din Pecs mi-am cumparat aceasta papusa. Nu-i asa ca-i grozava?

Farfuria romaneasca- The Romanian Plate

Grupul de patchwork "Peticelul Romanesc" are in proiect realizarea unui quilt numit "Quiltul Prieteniei", avand ca tema "Farfuria romaneasca". Fiecare dintre noi trebuie sa realizeze un block de 30/30 cm, luand ca model o farfurie romaneaca din ceramica de Corund. Culoarea predominanta trebuie sa fie albastrul.

Our group "The Romanian Patch" has planned to make a quilt called "The Quilt Of Friendship", on the theme of "Traditional Romanian Pottery". Each of us must make a block of 30 /30 cm , taking as inspiration motives from old Romanian plates. Because of the great variety of motives we decided to focuse on the blue ones, originar from a Romanian village, Corund. Hence, blue must be the predominant colour.

Mai intai am desenat modelul pe o hartie, simplificandu-l, iar apoi am copiat desenul pe o alta hartie, de unde am decupat apoi tiparul fiecarei petale si al fiecarei frunzulite:

First I drew the simplified model on a sheet of paper. Then I copied the pattern on another sheet of paper and cut up the pattern of each petal and leaf.

Se observa cum am numerotat fiecare bucatica, ca sa nu incurc ordinea lor cand le voi regrupa pe quilt.

You can notice that I numbered each and every small piece to avoid misplacing when regrouping them on the quilt.

Apoi am asezat hartia cu desenul pe geam, deasupra am pus panza crem ce urma sa o folosesc ca si fond, si cu un marker temporar am trasat conturul florii.

I placed the drawing on the window and the background fabric over it. With a temporar marker I traced the outline of the flower.

Mai departe am folosit minunata inventie numita wonder-under, un adeziv care se prezinta ca o tesatura foarte fina, avand pe spate hartie. Am lipit materialul albastru din care voiam sa fac aplicatiile pe partea adeziva a acstei wonder-under, cu ajutorul fierului de calcat. Dupa ce s-a racit, am desenat pe partea cu hartie, folosind micile tipare decupate, petalele si frunzele. Le-am decupat si abia apoi am indepartat hartia de pe spatele lor.

Further on I used a wonderful invention namely the wonder-under ( paper-backed fusible web). Using an iron I fused the blue fabric which I intended to use for the applique, on the fusible side of this wonder-under. After it cooled off I drew (on the back of the fabric, on the wonder-under paper) the patterns of the petals and leaves. I cut them up and I peeled off the paper.

Tinand cont de numerele notate pe fiecare, am asezat micile bucatele albastre la locul lor pe materialul de fond. Le-am lipit apoi cu fierul de calcat.

I set in order the little blue pieces on the background fabric, taking into account their numbers. Than I ironed them in their places on the block.

Cu cusatura de zig-zag am "desenat" apoi tulpinile florii si am conturat cele doua cercuri:

With the zig-zag stitch I "drew" the stems and the two circles.

Nu mi-a mai ramas decat sa quiltuiesc liber pe spatiul crem din interiorul farfuriei:

Nothing was left but to finish the block with the free motion quilting in the middle of the plate:

Asa... acum farfuria este gata, am si trimis-o cu posta Adinei, care va imbina toate "farfuriile noastre" intr-un quilt original.

Well, the plate is ready and I have already sent it to Adina, who will piece our plates into an original quilt.

Iar aici puteti vedea un colaj de fotografii realizat cu Picasa, cu toate farfuriile terminate pana acum de membrele grupului Peticelul Romanesc.

Antique Quilt

O alta pasiune de-a mea este designul interior. Ador sa rasfoiesc reviste de amenajari interioare si am acasa rafturi intregi cu asemenea reviste si carti.
Una din cartile mele preferate de design interior este “Paris Interiors”. In aceasta carte am gasit aceasta fotografie in care se vede un quilt simplu, alcatuit doar din patrate, care mi-a placut foarte mult si, nu stiu de ce, mi s-a lipit de suflet. Imi doream si eu sa fac unul asemenea.

Another passion of mine is interior design. I love to leaf through interior design books and magazines and I have shelves full of them.
One of my favourite book of interior design is “Paris Interiors”. I found this photo with an antique quilt made with squares. I liked it very much and, for an unknown reason, it stuck to my soul. I was planning to make a similar one.

Pe de alta parte, sotul meu mi-a adus intr-o zi un tablou, pe care nici acum nu ma pot hotari daca sa-l plac sau nu :)
On the other hand, my husband brought me this painting one day. I cannot decide yet whether to like it or not.

M-am decis sa-l asez in hol si sa fac un quilt dupa modelul celui din fotografie, care sa i se potriveasca ca si colorit.
I decided to hang it in the hall and make a quilt to match the painting (I mean the colours), taking my inspiration from the quilt in the first photo.

Am folosit materiale cumparate dintr-un magazin second hand ca sa-i dau un aspect de “vechi”. Am reusit desi nu stiu daca din fotografie reiese prea bine.
I used vintage fabrics to make the quilt looking “old”. It does look “old” even if it is not so obvious in the picture.
